I'm getting conflicting info on whether my 1525 is 32 bit or 64 bit. It came with both Vista and XP and has a core 2 duo T8300 2.4ghz processor.

    thanks

    Hi dunkinidaho,

The Inspiron 1525 is compatible with both Windows 32 bit and 64 bit Operating System. If you want to check the Version of the operating system please follow the below mentioned steps.

    • Right Click on the’ My Computer’ and Select Properties.
    • Check the version of the Operating System.

If you would like to know what was installed on your system when you purchased it from Dell initially, please send me a Private Message with the System Service Tag and I will be able to check and let you know.
You can also use the link mentioned below to check for the version of Operating System running on your Laptop.

thank you Swapnajan, I forgot two other questions. Instead of buying a new laptop I'm upgrading this one. If my current processor will function with 64 bit and I upgrade the OS to windows 7 pro--would it then be able to operate with 8gb ram? or would it still be limited to 4gb?

How can I find out what Physical size, in mm., hard drive will fit in the 1525.?

    thank you

    Hi,

I hope you have read my Private message about your system specific information. The answer to your question on the physical size of the Hard Drive, the Inspiron 1525 has the regular 2.5 Inch Hard Drive. If you are looking for the exact measurement of the Hard Drive you can remove it from the System and confirm it because it is easy to remove it and seat it back in the system.

Please use the link mentioned below to View/download the Service manual for this system. Please refer to the same if required.
