I've just taken delivery of an Inspiron 1525 I purchased for a friend with the optional Blossom design lid and the first think I noticed was that a plastic strip along the edge of the lid was hanging off, not only not glued down properly but it was folded back, so even if I could stick it back the fold would still be visible. Talk about poor workmanship, haven't Dell heard of quality control.

Also the lid itself doesn't stay down very well, if you hold the laptop upright it kind off flaps about.

This i the third laptop I've bought from Dell this year and they'v all had problems, and although I'm now happy with my XPS M1530 it'll definitely be the last.

I would contact Dell and arrange for a return and replacement. This is a hassle but you shouldn`t have to settle for a product that arrives in this condition. You`re right about quality control, how does a unit with such obvious damage ever get shipped? Is there any chance this happened in transit? Not that it matters but you need to send it back and give Dell the chance to make good.

How can it happen in transit? The entire laptop is covered with foam and whatnots, so it is obviously a human error during...say...the boxing stage...
contact Dell, don't settle with this laptop...

It shouldn't do that or look like that.

    Get a replacement.

Is that something you're supposed to peel off?
It's hard to tell from the picture.

No its not the see-thru protective film that should peel off, its the actual strip of plastic laminate that makes up the lid, pretty poor design tbh. I would have thought the painted lids would be a single piece design.

As I mentioned earlier this is the third laptop I've ordered from Dell this year and every one has had QC problems. I'm ringing them this morning and asking for a full refund.
