Ok I spent months on this with Dell trying to get out from under it by using the old "it may work for some people but we don't support" I fought them as the sales person swore to me it would work, I had no video nor audio for 6 months, I got the replacement and the video worked fine but I had no audio, connecting to 42in LG HD via HDMI
All I did was disconnect the HDMI and removed the intel driver
right clicked and checked for hardware changes
Vista installed a very generic looking High Def Audio Device and I am rolling!! Great video and sound, netflix looks great.
One thing you always want to keep in mind, Dell will have you doing crazy things like reinstalling your OS, I refused, I have a tech background and when I worked for HP that was a way to buy time while we escalated and I worked in Printing and Imaging on DesignJets. It is wrong and shows their lack of knowledge, funny that these other threads were over a year old and Dell hasn't updated their knowledge base with the resolution. Thank you to everyone who contributed ideas, I would have never got it resolved without you.

I have the same problem; disconnected HDMI cables; deleted the driver and allowed Vista to reinstal using plug-and-play (but it installed the same Intel driver). I can get a great picture, but no audio - anybody have any suggestions?

    Many thanks
