    Hey,

For fun I've upgraded the RAM on a couple of laptops.

    - An Acer Aspire from 512MB to 2G. - This has worked perfectly with no problems.

And my Dell Inspiron 1525 to 4G. - It has recognized the 4G or RAM. The programme Cpuz picks up the two slots of 2gig DDR2 5300 etc...

Sometimes the laptop works with no problems; but sometimes I get a blue screen error with no time to read before the system reboots.

Booting up and doing test cycles with Memtest three times 24hours each to check each individual RAM slot and both RAM in at the same time picks up no errors which is frustrating.

The RAM I bought was cheap on ebay: cgi.ebay.com/SAMSUNG-2GB-DDR2-667MHZ-PC2-5300-5400-SODIMM-200PN-2-GB_W0QQitemZ120327129504QQihZ002QQcategoryZ158897QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

This must be Ram that probably works, but my Dell is being fussy right?

Could somebody who has upgraded their Dell 1525 to 2x 2GIG slots with no problems please direct me to the RAM that has worked for them.

    Thanks for your help

Could you put the original sticks back into the Dell and observe it for a while?

RAM follows a specification, and if it does not follow that spec then it cannot be advertised as DDR2 RAM. Usually, RAM is either okay or it is not, but I have occasionally seen RAM intermittently fail.

It is possible that the laptop is starting to have issues, which just happened to coincide with the RAM swap...which is why I suggest reinstalling the original RAM.

Also, did you try a fresh installation of the OS? That too might have started developing issues which just happened to happen at the same time...

Just a few ideas to get the trouble shooting started.
