I've heard volume on the Inspiron 1525 is often too low. Mine is the same. I ended up buying speakers which solved the problem.
I just got new headphones, the bigger style not earplugs. I'm disappointed that the volume doesn't go up high enough on them.
Isn't there some sort of equalizer or way I can try to increase the volume?
I'm not very knowledgeable about computers!

(Sorry if the question have been asked before, I tried searching but there were just too many pages to go through)

    Thanks!

You do realise that loud music will seriously impair your hearing in years to come?

Honestly, I am living proof. If there was a rave, concert, disco, gig whatever going on, I was there, stood next to the speakers shouting at other people to tell them I couldn't hear them when it was futile as they clearly couldn't hear me either.

Now I still stand there telling people I can't hear them, but this is when in the queue for the ATM OUTSIDE the pub playing a moderate volume of music.

Be happy with what you have, and hopefully you'll keep it longer.

Umm being a student (hence the screen name) in the medical field I do indeed know what damage can be done to the ears. I'm not looking for super loud here I am looking for a decent headphone volume. Plus it's not like I would expose myself to loud volumes often. I like my headphones mainly for occasional movies.

I don't know if you have an Inspiron 1525 but the sound quality is horrible (or maybe there are just a few rotten ones out there, mine included, as I have heard other complaints).

Sooo on that note, I appreciate your concern but I would rather not be happy with the crappy sound quality I have...

Can anyone please answer my question? Do you know if there is some sort of way to adjust the sound besides the regular volume and the 3 options for "program" volumes I am given?

If the sound quality is poor, and you've noticed the same with external speakers then that leaves two points.

Point 1: Something dodgy inside the laptop. Not much you can do about that except perhaps replace the motherboard.

Point 2: Something dodgy about the sound drivers. Easy fix, check for alternate sound drivers.

Thank you, that link was useful and I was able to find a couple more useful links because of it. It's still on warranty so I've just decided to send it back to Dell and have it (among other things) fixed. I appreciate your help.

It's a common problem on some laptops. Personally I never rely on laptop speakers / sound cards. I have a USB sound card and portable speakers if I am gaming at a friends, but have a 5.1 setup when at home. The wife would kill me if she knew quite how much I spent on my computers...... but you know, it's my money :D

Anyway, I digress. Glad you kind of have a resolution, of sorts. Wish you all the best luck with Dell inept, er I mean technical support :D
