    Hi guys :)
My girlfriend has a brand new Inspiron 1525 with T5850 2,16 GHz, 2 GB DDR666, 160 GB 7200 hard disk, 1440x900 panel and Vista Ultimate SP1 updated.
When she uses the laptop in battery mode she has a very short autonomy: just one hour and 20 minutes.
The panel brightness isn't the maximum and Vista is setted in "Energy savings" mode.
    Is it normal??

When I formatted and I installed Vista Ultimate SP1 I didn't install three sw:

    1) Dell Recommended Vista Power Management Settings

I read in the release note that it's unnecessary for laptops produced after October 2007...

    2) Dell Notebook System Software

    3) Dell Support Center

    Did I do a mistake?
    May the battery be defective?

    Thanks :)

i dont think that applies when you reformat your computer. i think it means dell bundled it with the computers sold after oct 2007

you should install... my battery life seems good using dell's settings

sounds like she took the 4-cell battery instead of the standard 6-cell.

Check to see if it has a 4 or 6 cell battery. I'd also throw on notebook hardware control (the dell version) and see how many watts it is drawing on the battery. I can see 3-4 hours on a laptop drawing around 12 watts.

I have a 1525. I also did a erase and install of Vista Ultimate x64. I didn't install any of dells battery software etc.. I still get really good battery life. 2-3hrs no problem. I get even more with brightness down and battery set to "Power saver" in Vista.
