What's it like?
Will it last, assuming I take care of it?

There's a bit of a wobble in the hinges. The part under the optical drive bay feels a bit delicate especially when you put pressure on it. The keys of the keyboard feels cheap, is quite thin, and could easily be removed. So if you have a child, try to keep it away from them. The keyboard is very responsive though. Other than those, unless you're a notebook sadist, I think it will hold just fine. I treat mine with so respect, I think I'm gonna marry it. Oopps, hope the girlfriend don't read this.

Yeah my dad has one and I feel like the hinge is cheapo. He hasn't really taken care of his Inspiron at all but it still looks clean. There's no gloss either, therefore you won't have any fingerprints all over the damn system. (That's if you take a solid or silver color)
He's been satisfied but it's almost 6 pounds so if you plan on taking a walk with it I suggest getting a good backpack or else... -
There's a little flex everywhere in the body if you scrutinize it, otherwise it's okay.

Hope this isn't too late but I'm sending mine back for repair after 8mths. The display hinge has worked loose and 3 screws and bits of plastic fell out.
Now let's see how good Dell's guarantee service is...
(It is generally of poor quality and I would not buy another one)
Inspiron 1525 build quality?
