I'm looking to buy the basic Dell 1525 currently advertised at £369 (I have a £400 budget) and I noticed that there is an option for a £20 upgrade from the T1500 processor to the T3200.

Can anyone tell me if this is worth it, as in how much of a performance difference there is and if there are any problems with increased power consumption/heat?

The machine will mainly be used for web surfing/shopping, email, creating the odd document in works and playing some media (the odd video/music file). The only likely gaming would be online flash games.

    Thanks in advance.

Do you mean the T7500 processor? I don't think T1500 is a processor for the 1525

On the back of the Parade Magazine in my Sunday newspaper Dell had a 1525advertised for $499.00 but when I went to Dell.com to configure one there's no way to configure one for anything close to $499.00. There must be a coupon involved. It also came with only 1GB of memory, I would have to upgrade that to 2GB because of Windows Vista.

I am in the UK, the prices quoted are in pounds sterling.

Ah a celeron. In that case, I would get the upgrade.

So for web surfing and email you would still recommend upgrading to the dual core processor? The celeron wouldn't be enough to suit those basic computing needs?
