Im troubleshooting a dell inspiron 1525 for a friend... she said she had some virus on it, and after the welcome screen, its a blank white screen, and nothing else shows up. So i booted in safe, ran malware bytes and some other stuff, founda bunch of root kits and trojans, got em quarantined/removed, So i thought it was fixed, but no avail, still a white screen on startup.

The OS is windows vista (SMH),

What else should i check, or do? let me know what other info to post up as well to help with the problem.

    Thanks in advanced.

You can try windows recovery and restore options but IMO A format and fresh install is probably your best bet.

If you need to recover some data I would remove the hard drive and set it up as an external drive and of course carefully scan and transer any files you can.

That would be the best senario to do at this point in time...but also if you can take out the drive and use a USB to sata adapter and scan the HDD as a external HDD to kill any virus and malware would also be something good to try as well to remove those virus. And also while doing this would help to be able to save their data files and pictures or data they created on the computer to another hard drive or flash drive and then do a complete factory restore or Full O/S install to get the computer back up and running....and then reinstall the programs back and copy the data files back to their proper folders and go from there.
