I am ambivalent about even trying to replace a screen on an Inspiron 1545 and may now have a knowledgeable volunteer if I decide to do it. The problem that I see is how to ascertain what screen (other than size) is applicable. Most sellers warn that the two types are incompatible. Other than dismantling it or having it dismantled, is there any way to determine what is in the laptop. I went into BIOS but don't find the needed information there. The service tag is listed (JLRTVJ1) but Dell support doesn't seem to have the information I need.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated as I attempt to make a reasonable decision, on repair or sell as is.

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
You can go to support.dell.com and input the service tag, go to System Configuration, and click on components. Your part number for your model is R801J.

There are also programs like hardware monitor that will identify the LCD display (most times anyways)
once you have the part number is very easy to match it with either the same or compitble display.
Poping the back bezel off is not really hard to do.
Dell has the complete service manual online for your laptop to view/download -
Thanks for the help.
