    Hi,

As per the design Inspiron 1545 has two internally accessible SODIMM sockets. You can use Memory module with capacities 512 MB, 1 GB, and 2 GB in each socket. The Maximum memory capacity is 4 GB. Also you may use 800 MHz DDR2 SODIMM modules in this system.

I hope this helps. Please do write back in case you need further assistance.

    Thanks and regards,

    Hi

The Inspiron 1545 system uses Serial-ATA (SATA) hard drives. You may go for any of the following options:

    o 250 GB 5400 rpm
    o 320GB 5400 rpm
    o 500GB 5400 rpm
    o 640GB 5400rpm

You may use 7200rpm drives also, however the higher the rpm, the more the power consumption and it will impact the duration that the laptop can be used on only battery power.

I hope this helps. Please do write back in case you need any further assistance.

    Thanks & Regards

1545 should be able to do 8 GB DDR2, but it is quite cost prohibitive. Also any 9.5mm drive SATA drive will work with the 1545.
