I need to recover the laptop, but when I press F8 there is no option for "repair computer", just safe mode and a few others. But I know for a fact there is a Recovery partition on the hard drive. Recovery is for Vista, OS installed is 7

Is there any way to recover Vista from that recovery partition?

    Thanks

That's a little odd, it should be there. Are you positive there is one there?

I have the same issue. Restart my PC, Tap f8, repair os, login, then i get no access to repair partition only my os partition on c:\.

I have the repair partition on my dell inspiron 1545 but its possible that the owner before me partioned the current os c:\ partition thus not allowing me regular access without advanced tools.

Please assist on access to the recovery partition restoring my dell to factory settings.

Dell laptops with Vista/7 shy away from the Ctrl + F11 to access the recover partition (primarily for laptops with XP). You must spam F8 when you get the Dell logo and Repair my Computer will allow you to get into the recovery partition. That or your recovery partition is hosed (always a possibility). You might need a Dell branded Vista/7 disc and just reimage it manually and download drivers/software through Dell.
