Hello,
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 and I want to upgrade my hard disk. I am thinking to buy a Seagate Constellation 500gb but I am not sure if it is compatible with my laptop. I read somewhere that it is a SAS drive and that you need a compatible motherboard in order to use it, but I couldn't find anything else. Here is a link to the drives webpage.
If anyone has any idea, please tell me.
Thank you.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
Yeah, these are enterprise drives; I think they're too tall for conventional laptops. There are plenty of other 500GB drives that ARE usable in laptops... just check like Newegg.

You are correct about the size. They are equivalent to the old 12mm IDE notebook drives in size, vs the 9.5mm normal size for notebooks now.
SAS drives are a different connector as well. Essentially, SATA is not compatible with SAS drives, but SAS connectors are compatible with SATA drives. -
Save up for a little longer and get SSD if you ask me..
