3 times in the past 2 days colorful bars and bam the laptop locks up.

I was just on with Dell tech support and the lappy is behaving nicely.

I believe that the video is going to die on me.

Could it be just a software problem?

When diags are ran there aren't any problems.

As soon as it's shut down and restarted the problem is gone.

BTW, It was just on the desktop when it happened.

Does the colored bars appear even if you have an external monitor connected to your notebook?

    Haven't tried, it's very random.

I've seen this when video cards are failing.

It's most likely the IGP failing. However, just for kicks, I would play around with the inverter board to make sure it's connected properly.

No overheating, just barely booted into windows all 3 times , so I don't believe it was heat.
Right now it's been running for over an hour without any problems.

I'm waiting for a call back from Dell on it they want to do some more diags on it.

This is the picture I took this morning.

I hope that dell will allow me to email this to them, so they can see what my poor laptop has been going thru.

I tried to hook up an external monitor, but the laptop was locked up and refused to output to another device.
