    Inspiron 1564 touchpad problem

    Any ideas what might have caused the touchpad on an Inspiron 1564 to stop working? This is a friend's machine that I haven't seen, so I'm not sure precisely what happened, it sounds like it didn't "go crazy" first as some people have described before on older models. Could the touchpad have been turned off accidentally somehow?

    I'm pretty sure you can't physically disable the touchpad on a 1564. I think it's possible to disable it via software, but it's hard to do so accidentally. You can try reinstalling the driver (though honestly, the Windows stock drivers should work fine), and failing that, it may be a hardware failure, in which case you should call Dell...
