I got a problem on my hands, I suggested this laptop to a friend a month ago and it has been great for him till yesterday when it wouldn't turn on. He didn't do anything weird to it or anything. No bios upgrades or anything. I've tried using just the battery, just the charger.
If I hold the end button down and plug the power cord in after three seconds the fan comes on to full speed. I don't know if that is helpful to figuring out the problem or not.
Also if it is basically jacked then what can my friend do about this. He got it from Best Buy less than 2 months ago but probably more than a month. His last laptop lasted 7 years and it was a Dell. I understand that computer can just be flukes.

Unplug everything, Including your ram for a couple minutes.. then put the stuff in but try it with one RAM stick. If nothing, try the other RAM slot. If it works, try both sticks. I've had to do this with a couple laptops. For whatever reason it usually works.

I tried that and it didn't turn on. Thanks for the idea though. He picked it up and is just going to try his luck with Best Buy tomorrow.
Inspiron 1564 won't start, didn't do bios upgrade
