    Hey so my brother just got an Inspiron for college and I'm looking around for a guide on what steps we should follow since it's fresh out of the box, with a bunch of bloat ware. It's currently bluescreening a lot at random times.. so I'm guessing it needs to be reformated, but it didn't come with a windows 7 disc. Is there anyway to create a windows disc so that we can reformat?

    I know in the hp forum there's like a step by step guide of what to do for the DV6TQE when you first get it, so I've been looking around on the dell forums for something similar and haven't run across it. Does anyone know of one or could offer any help?

    Thanks!

    you need to contact dell if you want a copy of the software and windows disc they will send it out free of charge atleast i know in the U.S they do not charge because i just had them send me mine

    There should be a way to restor to factory setting maybe in dell data safe or somehting like that

    If you got the dell support option for software then they will help you if not then they will try to sell it to you or wont help you

    i got a screwed up system in the mail it did not give me option to set things up just opend and went right ot windows they would not help me set it up or configure it the dumb smucks lol

    so i ended up insisting that they send me a replacment hard drive that had a new shadow of windows on it so they did that instead

    I would;

    Create an account, create recovery media via Dell DataSafe Local Backup first. This will recreate your recovery partition in case your hard drive craps out or you want your original content on a bigger/new hard drive.

    I would then minimize the system image to your liking (I prefer the stock image). And I've used the new XPS 15/17 gen 2, and they didn't have that much bloatware compared to HP/Compaq and Acer/Gateway/eMachines.

    Worst case scenario, download a legitimate Windows 7 iso you are eligible for, or get Dell discs and do a clean install.
