Hello all,
I decided to purchase the Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition (7520) after perusing these (and other) user-based forums. I was aware of the BSOD issues indicated in several posts, but I thought that any such issues wouldn't apply to me because I don't use computer games at all. However, after having received my laptop, I am disappointed to report that even streaming Netflix causes the BSOD. I have tried several suggested methods of "fixing" this problem to no avail. I have even called Dell Premium support to no avail. Frankly, I would have been shipping this laptop back to Dell for a refund if it wasn't pouring rain outside thus ruining the "original packaging" required in such returns. So, I feel like I am stuck with this - in my opinion - faulty machine, but I am hopeful that others out there, which more computing prowess than I possess, will be able to offer solutions.
What I have tried:
- updating all Dell Drivers as recommended for my machine;
- updating only the AMD driver by utilizing "Device Manager;"
- uninstalling and re-installing the AMD driver;
- tailoring the graphics card to only have the AMD driver utilized for high-intensive functions (i.e., in my case, Netflix).
If anyone has suggestions as to other possible solutions, I am all ears. And, for what it's worth, apparently - given the number of user reviews I have read, the problems I am experiencing do not necessarily apply to ALL Inspiron 15R Special Editions. It does seem like there are those lucky few of us that are unfortunate enough to be experiencing these issues.
Thanks.
