From the product page on the Dell website:
    • Up to 9 hr, 57 min with Intel Core i5-6200U CPU, 16 GB DDR4 mem, 128 GB SSD primary + 1 TB HDD secondary drive, FHD touch display
    • Up to 9 hr, 33 min with Intel Core i5-6200U CPU, 16 GB DDR4 mem, 1 TB HDD primary + 128 GB SSD secondary drive, FHD touch display
    • Up to 7 hr, 53 min with Intel Core i5-6200U CPU, 16 GB DDR4 mem, 512 GB SSD, FHD touch display
    • Up to 7 hr, 25 min with Intel Core i7-6500U CPU, 12 GB DDR4 mem, 1 TB HDD primary + 128 GB 2 SSD secondary drive, FHD touch display
    • Up to 6 hr, 46 min with Intel Core i7-6560U CPU, 12 GB DDR4 mem, 256 GB SSD, FHD touch display
Seems a massive difference in battery life expectations if you have a single SSD, the machine lasts over an hour and a half longer with an SSD + spinning HDD for the same CPU!

Can a 512GB SSD use up so much more battery than the other configurations? Any thoughts on if there's any truth to it?

Spinning drives do use more power hence the difference in numbers when the spinner is first. The 512 I think is only offered with the i7 and that is why that number is where it is. I don't think it takes that much more to run more memory modules.

I have a base one of these and think its pretty nice. I got it on the outlet so the price was lower than new and for what it is... not bad. I really wish it was a 960m but even then, I would have just complained that it wasn't a 10 series gpu.

Its the processor using the power, not the SSD....I gained 1.5hrs of battery life on my timeline 4810 by installing an ssd and taking out the HD.
