    Hi all,

After ordering my 1720 on 6th July from Dell UK, it turned up on the 4th August, spec below:

    T7500 2.2Ghz
    1920x1200 TruLife
    2GB RAM
    160GB SATA HD
    GeForce 8600GT 256MB
    Intel 3945 Wireless
    Dell 355 Bluetooth
    9-Cell Battery
    Vista Business
    Jet Black with Camera

When it arrived i was blown away with the size and beauty, but the first task was to wipe the disk do a clean install, I experienced the same issues of the Vista install hanging at 'Completing Installation' but the BIOS tweaked, worked and I was away.....or so I thought.

The laptop now cannot be moved or it will just turn off. Sit it on a desk and its fine for hours, try to pick it up and move it, and BAM it just dies. It then wont turn on for a while, leaving it allows you to turn it back on, log on, open IE, BAM it dies again.

I have spoken to Dell this morning, and as it died while we were running the diagnostics (hold 'Fn' while powering on), they will send out an engineer Monday to fix the problem.

Fingers crossed for Monday, hope everybody elses 1720's are fine! :D

Dell Engineer arrived today....he replaced the system board, CPU and both sticks of RAM. Problem now seems resolved, i've been running for over 2 hours now without any issues, and able to move once again!

Dell will follow up tomorrow with a courtesy call to ensure everything is still OK. Even though they sent me a dodgy laptop, they have impressed me with their after-sales support so far.
