I was bored tonight so I ran some benchmarks on my 1720, Specs in Sig
Only change was the GPU was overclocked.
1st Pic is 3DMark @ stock clocks.--------3449
2nd Pic is 3DMark Overclocked----------- 4366 Old 4259, 4271, 4280
3rd Pic is Vantage @ stock clocks--------P1115
4th Pic is Vantage Overclocked----------- P1457 Old P1410
I didnt get time to finish a Vantage run on my last set oc clocks since it needed tweaking due to display driver crashes. GPU temps never reached higher the 67*C when overclocked

can u tell me how to overclock the processor? and have the speedstep not interfere?
-
You can't overclock the processor. The BIOS doesn't support it. And you can't overclock by software means because the PLL isn't supported.
The only thing I have overclocked is the GPU. Done through using nVidia system tools. Also I don't think you can get rid of the speed step. The only way to OC it would be through a pin mod which is link in the other thread.
-
was it difficult doing the pin mod?
-
SomeFormOFhuman has the dumbest username.
There aren't any PLL datasheets for our 1720 units unfortunately. Each notebook is different. GPU OC'ing only.
-
Yea, I never did the pin mod. To be honest it's probably a lot of trouble and I don't want to mess with it. Especially by trial and error.
-
Do you know how to overclock ATI cards?
-
That I do
I'll PM you the instructions I used on my alienware. I'm guessing it would be the same.
-
oh, my bad, i thought u did overclock it cuz of the inspiron in ur sig.
-
No prob, I just OCed the GPU
-
I updated the original post with my new 3DMark05 score.
-
New scores in this one man show
New 3DMark06 new high of 4366 up from 4280
New Vantage high P1457 up from P1410
Pics in original postGot a pretty good OC out of the GPU too, too bad I can't play with the CPU. Also GPU temps never went higher then 67*C when OCed.
