I just bought a Dell Inspiron 1720. It has Vista on it. When I type a few sentences the characters I am typing sometimes jump to another place on the line I am typing on. I am careful not to hit other keys. Dell told me to re-install Vista. This did not correct the problem. I also tried XP and same results. Does anyone have a solution????

I used to have that problem on a first-gen 1720, but I don't have it any more. I got new touchpad drivers from the Dell site, and I think that's what fixed it. Try it, it's easy and it can't hurt!

I do not think bloatware is appropriate to fix something that should work flawlessly with clean install but thanks for tip

Updated drivers are not bloatware. But please feel free to stick with the factory installed ones.
