So I have a Inspiron 1720 that had a little water spilled on it. Afterward the KB won't work but the power button and mouse work fine. The power button is on the same board as the power button.

I ordered a new KB from ebay and I'm getting the same issue. I took the etire laptop apart and I see no corrosion anywhere. What is my next course of action?

I'm thinking about getting a new touchpad module which is where the KB plugs in.

    Thanks for the help.

Did you buy a knock off brand from Ebay? If not then you may have a motherboard problem. Did Windows automatically install new drivers for the KB?

There are no keyboard drivers for the 1720.

The keyboard is connected to the palm rest circuitry conjoining with the touchpad, which leads to a single cable (touchpad & keyboard connector) connecting to the motherboard. That single cable connector may also need replacement as time reduces its electrical output thus rendering some keys on the keyboard (usually the YHN6 keys) useless.

This cable may need to be replaced.

I'm just wondering how the power button works but literally none of the keys work. It's confusing how the cord could cause this. I'm going to try it though.
