Just got my brand new Dell Inspiron 1720 and the screen (glossy 1440x900) is washed out and grainy! The screen is showing as AUO3787 via the device manager.

    Who makes that one?
Who know the part number for the 17" glossy 1440x900 LG Phillips panel?

I'm about to just buy it and replace it myself instead of letting a tech come here and hack my notebook.

if you just got it brand new, they have to replace the screen for you, until you are happy with it.

your screen is defective, and when they replaced my grainy screen, the guy did it in minutes. i would trust an engineer over myself, especially because if its not perfect, i would get them to change it again.

i think i had your screen before. it was very glittery/grainy, with backlight bleeding.

my new one is SEC3258, and its pure!

My god, the light leakage is the worst that I have seen! Viewing angles are the worst too. You have the glossy 1440x900 res too?

Maybe I'll give them a call to replace it. Can I still return it if I do not like the replacement screen either?

My god. READ THE STICKIES. No more threads on grainy screens.

Read them buddy. No mention of 17" inspiron 1440x900 glossy screens that i seen. Just xps 15.4" and hi-res 17" xps 1730 screens. Thanks though.
