Ok guys, maybe you guys can give me a hand. I haven't had much luck with the Tech Support guys from Dell and for whatever reason I'm having problems with their own forums on their website.

So here's the deal. For the first month or so I was running into issues with the computer going into sleep/hibernate mode. I figured it was just a setting or something and I'd figure it out at some point. Chocked it up to my unfamiliarity with Windows Vista. I've disabled the sleep and hibernate modes in Windows. Unfortunately, it keeps going to sleep on me. With the Dell Tech Support staff I've downloaded the updates for the BIOS, Video Drivers, and Touchpad. There's doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for when it goes to sleep. It happens right in the middle of a project or while I'm surfing the web. Usually when it happens it'll happen multiple times. Most times it'll come right back up when I press the power button. Many times I have to hold the power button down and completely reboot the system. This has been very frustrating. I've removed almost all the services and startup programs when it boots up but I'm still having the problem. Somebody please save me. I'm starting to lose my mind. The last time I talked to a Rep from Dell he told me the best thing for me to do was to completely reinstall the OS. I don't have a problem with that except that all of my software is 300 miles away and I'm starting to lose my mind over this problem. Has anyone else had this problem. I've been researching it and trying to figure it out for the better part of two days.

    Jamie

I too have the same problem. Phoned Dell 3x; Updated the BIOs, Vista sp1, power management and disabled to never sleep etc... did you solve your problem? I tried it by entering into safe mode (F2) at start up and no problems.

Do you guys use the dell supplied video drivers or the modded video drivers?
