Hey all - sorry if i missed this answered somewhere else.

I use my inspiron 1720 as a desktop meaning i run it 12-14 hours a day.

I recently noticed the fans haven't come on in days. I use a zalman cooler and also keep it in a very cool spot in my room so I'm not completely concerned.

I used everest to check the temps and the cpu is running 44 celcius and the drive is running @ 26 degrees celcius.

Basically I think this is fine but I'm wondering if anyone knows the optimal temperature ranges for the dell inspiron 1720 and if im actually running it too cold?

    Thanks :)

    Your temps are fine.

No such thing as running too cold unless its sub zero which then moisture will be a problem

    Ideal temps should be around:
    IDLE
    CPU - 40-45c
    GPU - 45-50c
    HDD - 35-40c

    LOAD
    CPU - 70-75c
    GPU - 75-80c
    HDD - 50-55c

    Cooler the better of course.

Yes, don't worry. You're running it fine. In fact, all the temps provided by flipfire should be ~10-15 degrees cooler especially for the Inspiron 1720/Vostro 1700 machines.

All your temps are doing fine. I own a 1720 as well and I'm getting that kind of temps too - without any cooler. Read around and ask the owners; the 1720 has been highly regarded as one of the coolest temperature wise machines built by Dell.

GPU wise, it should not go above 65 degrees.

You can try undervolting your CPU if you want to achieve cooler results. I get around 35 degrees idling. 53 degrees max on consistently @100% CPU full-load usage while rendering a 3D Max scene for 8 hours.

FYI, there were a few times my 1720 has been on for nearly a week long. Still runs cool like as if was just turned on.
