I have the 1390 which I found drivers for.

The only thing I can't find now is the Video Controller and a PCI Device.

    Any other Ideas.

Thanks for the help so far.

VGA Drivers: Found this post which solved my problems ->
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=15113

You need to download the driver and then download the modded INF file. Once you have done this copy the modded INF file into the extracted directory of the driver (16371) and let it replace the file.

Then run the setup file in the 16371 directory. Worked for me.....

The three devices by the same name( Can't recall the name now..Doh!) are the SD/MMC/XD card slots. Go to Dell web site and search for the R105291 package. These are the drivers for them.

Still looking for the PCI Device and SM Bus Controller...

    Hey All,

thanks for all the great info.. I got everything working fine... plus some missing info...

    • Dell Wireless 1490 Dual Band WLAN Mini-card uses driver

R140747.EXE (this device might be picked up by Windows update... but I think I was having a comflict because I had tried the vista driver. This file fixed that. :) )
    • Ricoh Memory Card Drivers for Vista 32-Bit and XP/2K
      R141246.EXE
    • Sigmatel STAC92XX C-Major HD Audio Driver
R171789.exe(This picks up the modem as well)
    • Embedded Broadcom 440 Network controller
      R149789.EXE
    • nVidia G86/G84 XP 32bit Driver
      "R173730 .EXE"
    • Bluetooth 355 stack+driver (bcm2045)

R127314.EXE (also there is a fix for if your BT radio was disabled in Vista when you downgraded to XP, to enable turing it back on in XP... R159805.EXE)
    • The Creative embedded webcam was picked up by "Windows Update".

    About installing pci Device drivers.
Well, firts of all, it is possible inslling audio drivers, i just did it on my Inspiron 1720 with XP pro I Just installed xp last week (no more vista). I had many problems installing the sigmatel audio divers, tried all tricks I found in all kinds of forums. I want to post what i finally did, and what i understood i has to be done.
    - First. ¿What the pci device is? PCI device, which seemes to cause problems, like it is not ay driver installed for this device, is a driver packet provided by Microsoft to enable High definition Audio on motherboards and get it to work. So before installing the sigamtel drivers from dell, id you already did it unsinstall them (they just don work) you have to download and install this drivers:
    http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SO...AA-Bus-Driver-for-High-Definition-Audio.shtml

    Without these sound wont work.

    - Once installed, check that your pci device (under xp device manager) has this driver installed. If not, restart your pc and check it again, if not, in the device manager go to update driver, and you probably will see in the "show compatible hardware" (when installing manually) that it is there, select it and press next. Now windows has selected this driver for your pci device.Restart.

    - Now the sigmatel audio drivers. Whenever i tried to install these drivers using the installer it always gave an error not compatible..or whatever. Try this: Download from DEll site the sound drivers of the dell vostro 1500. Unpack them to your hard disk. And install them manually, for example, in my pc the location is this: C:\dell\drivers\_sigmatel_audio_1500\WDM
After you do this, it will ask you for a dll that driver nedds for working, i took it from the inspiron 1720 sigmatel drivers, example:
    C:\dell\drivers\R171789_audio\WDM
i think it was in that location if not, just browse or use the windows search to find where that dll is.
When you find it, it will ask you a couple of times to input that dll again, well at this point your sound is probable working yet, it will stop asking you for that dll.
    - Last: If still sound is not working, try this: Under the dell 1500 audio driver package there is an archive which i think it is a patch from microsoft for sound named "kb835221" , install it. Location:
    C:\dell\drivers\_sigmatel_audio_1500\HDAQFE\win2k_xp\us\kb835221

Note: You need to have downloaded the inspiron 1720 sound drivers from dell and the drivers for vostro 1500 from dell.

I am also having problems. I purchased an inspiron 1720 with Vista, but after months of frustration have replaced it with XP. Unfortunately, the screen resolution now is very poor. The Display properties tell me i have the Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset family for my display which gives me 1440 by 900 pixels. I can't seem to improve the screen resolution. Any suggestions welcome.
