Hey I was wondering if anyone could help me with this issue.
I've just gotten back from uni and I'm having some major issues with regards to the intel wireless built into my inspiron. When I push the switch to turn on wifi the light doesn't come on and its basically buggered up!

I've tried reinstalling using the drivers from my laptop but to no avail.
I downloaded the latest drivers from dell (vista 32bit) but to no avail.
I've tried uninstalling then reinstalling using the latest drivers from dell but to no avail.
I've gone into bios to check that it is enabled and it is.
I've been into device manager to see what issues there are and found this, 'This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)'. The drivers are vista 32bit and I am using vista 32bit so I don't understand what the point of this error is...
I've tried rebooting, and trying to google the issue but i can't seem to find anyone else with the same issue as me.

So can anyone please help me out?? :)

Firstly, if you mean the switch on teh left side it doesnt light up at all except for the Wi-Finder feature while the laptop is off.

Secondly, which "Intel Wireless" do you have? 4965 AGN? or what?

Also quickset seems to be working fine because the media buttons work.. Wifi catcher seems to be disabled in the quickset program and I can't seem to enable it due to the error message found in the drivers (code 31)

Yeah, wifi catcher sucks while the computer is off. I wouldnt expect it to work at all. I had that card and went to the 4965 AGN from Intel not the dell version and now it works..... wierd huh?

Not sure what to tell you on the card other than make sure you are getting the correct drivers?

lol i wouldn't expect it to work either mate :) The one i have is the Intel proset wireless 3954abg !!! It did work wireless for the past 4-5 months but now it doesn't seem to want to work anymore!!!!

I have already got the correct drivers as i said in the first post and i cannot reiterate the fact that they are vista 32bit versions from the dell website and the drivers are released for my version as well as the 4965 version i believe.

anyway i don't really care about the wifi catcher atm, i just want to be able to use my wireless and its rather annoying having to use a network cable especially when i want to surf the internet in the living room :(

ok i've managed to solve the issue! and incase you wondered I just did a system restore to about 7 days ago which was when it last worked!! i think i also managed to delete some of the microsoft updates which i installed a day or two ago which may have resulted in the problems which i encountered today!!

so anyway, if anyone has any issues with intel wireless drivers no longer working then just do a system restore :)
