I ordered a 17" Inspiron 1720. It gave me the option of:
Glossy, high contrast, widescreen 17.0 inch display (1440 x 900)
OR
Anti-glare, widescreen 17.0 inch display (1440 x 900)
I chose the first one because people mentioned the anti-glare made the pic look worse.
Is that true (subjective of course) or am I misled? I can still change it.
Should I worry about the graniness issue on the 17" display? Thanks.

. If you watch a lot of movies or photos I would recommend the glossy, since it has a high contrast. If you plan on typing documents or browsing the internet I would recommend the anti-glare.

I am also configuring a 1720 or Vostro 1700. I want the Glossy Truelife in 1440 x 900 resolution but the choices are not clear:
1720
Glossy, high contrast, widescreen 17.0 inch display (1440 x 900)
Anti-glare, widescreen 17.0 inch display (1440 x 900)
Vostro 1700
17.0 inch Wide Screen XGA+ LCD Display
The 1720 says glossy, but is that also Truelife? Is there such a thing as Glossy but not Truelife?
I assume with the Vostro that XGA+ is 1440, but it makes no mention of glossy.
Has anyone bought one with the same requirements I have (Truelife 1440) and let me know? Yes I could call Dell but I would rather get actual user experience.
Thanks in advance. -
