Ok I have this whining noise that comes out of my speakers and headphones, and I'm sending my inspiron to dell for repair when the box comes. The tech support guy told me they will not wipe my hard drive or anything like that to do the repair (sound card and MoBo replacement). My question is can i trust him about this? He even told me I could remove my HD before sending it to them, but IDK if I should. Anyone have any experience with this kind of thing with Dell? I really don't want to lose the data on my HD.
