Hi all.
Trying to mess around with my GPU a little here.
I am to lazy to do surgery on the computer.
(-open up and clean out dustbunnies in the heatsink area)
I'll try to reduce the GPU temp the nerdy way this time. Undervoltage it a bit.
I am using GPU-Z, NiBiTor and nVFlash.
I have been googling around and discovered that some have experienced a divergence in the data extracted by GPU-Z and extracted by nVFlash.
Namely subsystem ID have been rendered some interchanging digits.
'Tis solvable by going by the data extracted from nVflash, since this is also the program used for actually reflashing the vbios.
My issue is that I somehow aren't able to extract a backup by the use of nVFlash.
Until i figure out the conundrums regarding my failings in DOS, I'll just ask here:
Anyone out there that can help me verify what subsystem ID the GeForce 8600m GT in an Inspiron 1720 should have?
In NibiTor, under the tab Adv. Info, I find these data:
Device ID: 0407
Sub Vendor ID: 1028
Sub System ID: 01F2
BoardID: 1C14
Can I trust these are correct?
Kind Regards.

I think its going to come down to what ram the card uses.GDDR3,DDR2,DDR3....
If you search the NBR forum im sure you could find something about underclocking a 8600gt.
Seen a few here and there -
Thanks, it uses DDR2.
I have tried the search, but there are afaics no post/thread regarding my particular question.
Anyone out there that has an extracted (by nvflash) vbios, they can be looked up, or that knows if the later versions of nibitor has 'fixed' this issue? (-if there ever was one?) -
Anyone out there that could answer me, if I need two cloned usb-sticks to make read/write operations work in dos?
So far I have used one bootstick, and it reads, but it all freezes up when trying to extract a copy of the rom, and only ctrl-delete works to get out.
Would I need a cloned, i.e. 2x bootsticks, or 1x bootstick (fat32) and 1x formatted (fat32) empty stick?
Any experiences out there?
