Inspiron 17R (5737)...I Bought A New Keyboard From Dell...

I needed to replace the keyboard on my 3 year old 17R (5737) so I purchased a new one from Dell (directly from Dell over the phone), it was highway robbery but I wanted to make sure I got a genuine part ($62.00...I know lol.) Anyways when I received it, I noticed there was a foreign currency symbol on the number 4 key (along with the American "$" symbol and on the number 5 key it has the Euro symbol on it as well as the "%" symbol.

I thought this was strange as my original keyboard does not have this, so I called them, took pics and E-Mailed the guy while I was on the phone with him. He looked at the pics and said it wasn't a US keyboard. They sent me out a new one and the new one came with the same way. I called back and they told me not to worry about it that it was a US keyboard and to just ignore the two symbols lol...I don't know what to make of it to be honest.

Other than that, all of the other keys look exactly as they should, it's just those two keys that each have the extra symbols on them.

Any ideas?

I know the keyboards were new, you can tell obviously by looking at them for starters, also they both arrived with the plastic lining insert that you remove in between all of the keys that protects the shiny piano black finish.

 

Could be that they were trying to make repair parts for all versions and not just one. Cuts costs on manufacturing
