My brother isn't the most computer savy and he asked me to pick out a laptop for when he goes to college. His price range is $500-600 and he wants to do a very small amount of gaming on it (like old games and SCII on low settings). I picked out this Inspiron:

I have a $50 coupon for the dell outlet store so I'm inclined to buy it right away, considering the coupon expires in a few days. I checked the video card, the NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M, and it seems like he should be ok to play starcraft II on low settings and should be more than fine with his old FPSs. But I'm out of country at the moment and don't really have time to research the model that well, does anyone know of any major issues with these Inspirons, or is buying stuff from the dell outlet not such a good idea in general?

Also, can he use an external monitor with an extended display on this set up? I could never tell what exactly was required of a video card for that to work.

Thanks for your input, I couldn't find and threads on the model number and want to make sure he'll be ok for a few years with this one.

Well your link doesn't work for starters. :p

I haven't had real issues with Dell Outlet. My Latitude 13 and my now returned E6410 were both purchased from the Outlet store. Latitude 13 is still going good. My E6410 had minor issues but honestly I did not want to deal with them so I returned it for a refund. Dell made it VERY painless to RMA.

The N7110 is a new model, though realistically it is just a refresh of the N7010. The N5010 (15R) did have a batch of bad hard drives about a year ago, but since then no major issues. Dell has your typical issues (bad hard drives, bad AC adapter, though
Dell's most common issues are with keyboards/palmrest)

Setting up an external monitor should be no issue, just fiddle around with the Nvidia settings.
