He he. I actually was 1 sec from order a US keyboard (instead of Swedish) because its no backlit on the Swedish one. Now i can instead order a brand new Vostro 3750 backlit keyboard cheaper and Swedish.

    Part number is: YXKXY

Quick question: Is the keyboard the same as that used on the XPS 17? It looks very similar, but the keys seem a little less concave than XPS' keyboard, but otherwise it seems identical.

    Thanks in advance,

Does replacing the keyboard lead to a voided Dell warranty?

No. It does void the warranty for the keyboard though, as far as I know.

Hi, sorry for reviving an old thread,
I'd like to ask more about 17R SE keyboards.. Does the L702x keyboard also fit in as well as Vostro 3750?

Also anyone know any good place to buy them keyboards apart from amazon and ebay in UK?
Maybe Dell sells them separately somewhere?

So I went to place my order yesterday and the rep told me that the backlit keyboard is not available anymore. He contacted technical support who said there were technical problems with the part and it was withdrawn. He said he could include it in the quote but it would most likely not come with it installed and then if I claimed it should have been it would become a mess for everyone. I would also be charged for it. So no backlit keyboard for me, but I will try and find one online.

On the American Dell website it still shows the backlit keyboard in the summary.

Got mine (with all bells and whistles) yesterday and for the past 24 did nothing but word 2010 :( [work doesnt get itself done you see]

anyway there was one severe shortcoming that i am facing. there is no context menu key (thats the key that is to the right of the space bar between the alt and ctrl key – i didnt know the name of the key either and had to look around).

it is severely affecting my productivity. can someone please tell me how to supplement it :( i dont mind replacing the right alt key if that is possible :)

somehow google does not seem to help me with this.

SOLVED: apparently this program called autohotkey can work magic. the link is here:
