Im looking for a CPU fan for an Inspiron 2600. I booted the laptop last night and I was greeted with a "CPU fan not present or functioning" error in BIOS at start. To continue to load windows I have to press F1.... so the fan is dead. The stock part is using an ADDA fan model# AD0405MB-GA3 but I can also use the AD0405UB-GA3 from the Inspiron 2650. The only one I have been able to find so far is the enitre HSF unit for $69... which is a bit much. Its not under warranty anymore and Im trying not to ship it to Dell to have a fan replaced.

If anyone can direct me to a fan I would appriciate it.

Its the same thing as the 2600's... just a more powerful fan.

Still waiting for a few emails to be returned but most likely Ill just be ordering the one linked to.

Got the hsf today. The fans are the same size, different connectors but its easy to remove the wires from it and plug into the 2600's. I took this laptop in on trade for a desktop I built for a friend and after a memory upgrade to 512MB and an upgrade from a 4200rpm Hitachi to a 7200rpm Im very impressed. While the P3 based 1.2GHz Celeron is a bit slower then a desktop 1600+ its still great for office docs, internet and email... with other speakers it has no problems with iTunes and a playlist, DIFM and streaming music or divx/xvid movies altho super fast motion does cause ghosting. Still trying to figure out how to shut off the touch pad's "tap to click" while using Logitech drivers for my MX310... annoying to be typing and tap the touchpad w/ my thumb. Other then that though Im completely satisfied [ :D]
