My aging Dell Inspiron 2600 laptop has an ailing keyboard. it has quit working for the 2nd time in its short life. Several years ago, the dell people talked me through repairing it, and one of the steps involved removing the battery and one or two other steps that I do not recall! Of course, I cannot replicate the necessary steps, and my very pregnant wife is starting to get angry with me because the laptop isnt working. Any ideas as to how to get it going again... easily and inexpensive?!
THANKS!
Mike

Call up dell again? Aren't they 24/7? Anyway, it probably needs a whole new keyboard. You can buy them at many online stores.

Yes, dell is in fact 24/ 7, but I dont feel the need to be on the phone w/ an operator that I dont understand. Also, they ask the same question 10 different times, 9 different ways. I was hoping someone online w/ more technological knowledge than me would be able to assist, or perhaps had the same issue and would be able to share the knowledge.

If it s a loose connection, then you can takeout the keyboard and make sure everything is connected firmly. Here are the instructions: service manual.
