I'm searching to buy memory to upgrade the 5100. Problem is the unit is away at college and I can't open it up. Came from the factory with 256mb. I read that 128mb is on the mobo and can't be end user accessed. Is that true?
Or is the memory configured as 2 x 128mb that I can pull?

Do I have 2 slots I can populate? Or only one?

If anyone has bumped the RAM in this model, I'd appreciate hearing what is inside and what you did. Thanks, Doug

According to dell's manual of the 5100, it says that the memory can be accessed from the bottom. Usually when you order a computer with 256mb of ram it comes in 1 dimm (256x1), so you would have 1 extra slot to put ram in. hope it answers your question.
