My nephew has a 5160 and the screen has gone out. Should he replace the screen or replace the laptop?
How much would a screen cost and where could one be found?

    Thanks

    Herman

I will have to get back with my nephew. He took it to Best Buy and the Geek Squad said it would cost $600 to fix it. I found a place called Parts People Inc. They had several screens listed from 99.95 to 199.95, depending on condition. I am not sure which screen he has.

For $600 you might as well replace it with a new laptop

I knew the $600 was unreasonable. I think I could replace it myself, just did not know where to find a usable screen.
Dell has a refurbished SXGA+ monitor for $428.95.
Parts People Inc has a new LG monitor for $249.95. The other monitors are well used to like new, but they only have a 30 day warranty.
