    Hi

I have a Dell Inspiron which when I turn it on will just sit there beeping till I turn it off. Nothing comes up on the screen during this.

I have stripped it and found no obvious cause. I've removed the CMOS battery and left it over night with no change.

The thing that changes that if I pull the ram out if beeps twice. Trying different ram doesn't fix it.

Any ideas or am I looking at a new system board?

    Matt

    HI Matthab,

You're in luck. I had this issue before but it may be different to what you may be experiencing. I own a Inspiron 15 7000 (7537) and had the exact same problem, but only occurred if my laptop wen't to sleep mode and so I had to force shutdown, thus causing the beeping noise. When the technician came to take it apart there was a keyboard cable disconnected, which I was pissed about, but anyway it didn't really solve the issue, so I got the motherboard replaced and everything fine. So you're answer may be is to contact Dell if you're still in the warranty, if not than take apart the motherboard and look for a model code to see what motherboard there is. As I recall there's 2 different types one motherboards.
