This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Inspiron 6000

    I am limping away with my Inspiron 6000 waiting on my D630. I placed my order after a few problems started popping up. The touchpad is flaky at best and the LCD is dimming. When I bought it 2 years ago the LCD was the best (1920X1200).

    I think the 6000 knows it is going to be retired soon. The LCD has gotten significantally darker today (the brightness is at 100% ;)... Any idea what the cause may be? Backlight or Inverter? I may need to fix as it is going to be a bit b4 the new one gets here.
