Hello All,
I have an Inspiron 6000D (abt 3 yrs old with dedicated graphics and 1.73 centrino).
I have seen in the specs that max memory is 2 GB?
Just wondering if this is a strict restriction or will it accept & use more than 2 GB? (Is there a hack or bios update that can help)
Also if the limit is 2GB, can I just put one 2GB stick instead of 2 one GB's.
thx

I believe the maximum memory per stick allowed is 1GB, so its more of a physical limitation. You can, however, attempt to put in a 2GB DDR2 PC2-5300 or 4200 200-pin stick with a 1GB one to see if it reads it.

relatedddd
so it may also be a chipset limitation
also
quote: "2GB Max. I just tried the other day. Put in 2x2GB OCZ 667Mhz and it immediately switched off after powerring on. I took one one out, and put in one 1GB from Crucial for 3GB, it turned on but BIOS only showed 2GB. Same thing happened if I leave only one 2GB in. So max per slot is 2GB, max total is 2GB. Intel confirms that here:
