    Inspiron 6000 Desktop shortcuts delay appearing at startup?

    2 weeks ago I first noticed that the shortcuts from my desktop had a delay in appearance at startup. At first it was about a minute to 90 seconds. Tonight I just had a more extended delay at startup, probably 3 minutes.

    What is causing this? It's not happening at each startup, but the mere fact that it is happening and now appears to be happening for longer periods of times has me seriously worried.

    I ran antivirus and spyware applications. Nothing was found, so that isn't the problem.

    I'm also having problems with the fan making noises at certain random moments, and I posted about that in another thread early today.

    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated on how to figure out the problem/solve it.
