    Hello

I got my Insiron 6000 8 days ago, and it worked fine. But today when I switched it on the touchpad was very unresponsive, you would have to move your finger over the touchpad three or four times before the cursor would move. I checked all the touchpad settings and everything seems to be fine, I ran the DELL diagnostic utility the touchpad passed the test, but I had the same problem, like it would take a while to move the sursor somewhere, as if the cursor would be stuck in one place. The occurene is random, so it can work one minute and not work the other. The tech support from Dell said that it is a driver problem, but if it has the same problem in the diagnostic utility as windows I don't think it has anything to do with the driver, besides it worked fine before and I didn't install/uninstall any drivers.
Just wanted to know if anyone else experienced the same problem amd knows what to do.

    Thanks

You can first try rebooting. If that doesn't solve it I'd remove the driver and re-install. Should that not work I'd send it in for repair.

Have you used an external mouse? I had a problem similar when I used a usb wireless mouse. My external mouse drivers took over the mouse/touchpad properties, and gave me problems.

Like Brian said, I would reinstall the driver and see if that fixes it.

Thanks everyone, the problem was in the touchpad itself, so the tech from DELL replaced it today. I told him that the thing is fine now, but he said that they would rather replace it.

yeah NiSmO, I was very surprised to find such good customer care in South Africa. Usually it takes ages to get something done in this country, but this time it was like they promised, touchpad was replaced on the next business day.
