my buddies Inspiron 6000 a/c adapter will show a green light for a second then either flash or just go out. whenevr the adapter is plugged into the laptop the computer automatically goes into some sort of hibernate mode were you have to hot restart it in order to operate it. what is going on????

It could be shorting out at the connector. Does it stay green when not plugged in? If so then its probably faulty and needs replacement.
