Hey, I own an Inspiron 6000, and recently the battery has just detoriated, it seems to be a u4873 model, which has dissapeared off of the Dell website...
Guess how a brand new battery for the insp 600 costs...130 dollars +...
That's just ridiculous, and ebay has tons of my battery (u4373) on sale for around 70. So I'd really appreciate it if someone could clear up the difference between the new battery and the older u4373..
Edit: here's the new one. http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=312-0339

i dont know what the difference is but my old I6000's battery works on my E1705 and the other way arround aswell.
hope that helps. -
I assume you checked to make sure that it was not on the recall list. If by some chance it was, they would send you a new one.

ye checked, im just amazed at the disparity between the prices..

All I know is that Inspiron 6000 batteries have given me tons of grief... my original battery was recalled, and only 9 months after getting the new battery... it will only last for 45 minutes. And when I contacted Dell they said the one year warranty on the battery, even though it was new because it was the replacement battery they sent me, coincided with the warranty of the OLD battery... so I was SOL, and now I've gotta throw down 130+ for a new battery.
