Has anybody experienced that the max volume on the Inspiron 6000 changes from app to app? On Dell Media Experience, the speakers will play about 20% louder than on WinDVD, any idea how to fix this? Thanks!

PS:Oh, and is there anyway to get the media buttons to work with winDVD?

DVD Audio volume is quieter than CD (or mp3) volume in general. There are some software apps that will boost the DVD volume. I don't see any audio boosting options other than the ones that are alread preselected. The media buttons will work with WinDVD once it is open. In order to make the the play button work, when you hold down the play button for a few seconds, you will have to edit the registry. Here are the steps to edit the registry but I don't recomend it.

    Code:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\DMX.exe] @="D:\\WinAMP\\cc\\DMX.exe" "Path"="D:\\WinAMP"

Edit the paths, copy and paste into a .reg file and run it.

Just create a new key in HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/App Paths called DMX.exe.

Default should be a string pointing to your program of choice.
Path is the path to the program.

In this example, WinAMP is installed to D:\WinAMP and WinAMP Control Center in \cc\. Copy and rename the executable to DMX.exe.

Hope that helps. I am a little lost when it comes to doing this so that is why I don't recomend doing it.

Sorry, I meant that the Dell Media Experience DVD audio is much louder than my Intervideo WinDVD7 audio. Is that normal?

Whenever I received my XPS, I quicly reformated it and now the Dell Media Experience software won't install for some unknown reason so I can't test my notebook. This is probably normal as the Dell software might have a built-in audio booster since people often complain about the soft volumes of DVDs playing through computers.
