Hello. I am looking at both these systems thru a new-open box store (36%off)
I REALLY need help on which would be a better choice for me! It is for basic uses, no gaming or anything intense, but I would like a laptop that will last, and run decently fast!
Also, any opinions on how much ram I will need...512mb, or should I go for 1gb?
Thanks soo much!!

6000 with 1 GB would last longer, and it's definitely faster if you buy with a Pentium M, not Celeron.

Depends really since Celeron is as fast as Pentium M in most cases. What it lacks is power management.

I returned a b130 1.73 due a to faulty dell wifi card but build seems to be really on a budget compared to the 6000;did not seem any faster with my old i6000 1.3 celeron m either.
IMO, go for the 6000 either with P-M or Celeron with max of 512 ram to save $$(just add another 512 stick from newegg later).
