I just got my new dell Inspiron 6000, an open box system! I've heard that others have had problems with this system being bloated. Mine seems awfully full of stuff, and it errored out on me once already, shutting down to "save windows from error". I'm wondering if anyone can help me with unbloating my system. I'm pretty much clueless with this, so any help would really be appretiated!

You have two choices - either reformat and reinstall XP which is the best way, but some users get scared because it seems difficult.

The other is to add/remove programs. The problem with this is that it leaves keys and folders behind. It also doesn't guarantee that you won't have problems. Neither will the first method, but the first method gives you a more stable system.

Follow Southern Girl's reformat guide. It's simple.

If you want to add/remove, that is time consuming and you really should restart the computer after uninstalling even just one program. If you opt for option B, at least consider cleaning the registry using a tool like CrapCleaner AKA CCleaner.
