Hey guys I'm new to these forums. Acutally I have been reading a lot of reviews on this site and need some advice on which laptop I should purchase. After all the reading and research that I have done, I narrowed it down to the Inspiron 6000D and the Hp Zv6000. They both come out to the same price.

    Dell Inspiron 6000D
    Pentium 1.5 M
    1 GB DDR Ram
    x300 128MB

    Hp zv6000
    Athlon 64 3200+
    1 GB DDR Ram
    128 MB XPRESS 200M

First of all, I will be using this laptop mainly for school and would like to play Counter-strike occasionally. I read some bad things about the x300 graphics card as well as the XPRESS 200M. Which one would be better for my needs? I was hoping to get any where from 70-100 fps while playing CS. Also, which processor will be faster (AMD Athlon 64 3200+ or Intel Pentium 1.5M)?

Any help will be greatly appreciated...Thanks in advance!!!

lol that's exactly what i was looking for my laptop. (former cal-m)

Ummm, I got 1.86mhz, 1gig ram, 128 atix300 and counter strike runs flawlessly. I got the WUSGA+(spelling?) screen and the texture is crisp clear, even better than my desktop 2.6ghz P4, 1gig ram, with 64mb gforce4 mx420..which has dell's 18in lcd.

I have no idea about the Hp.

So counter strike is definitely no problem running, from what I read, even half-life2 runs smoothly in x300 under default settings(in the hardware forum of this site; look under title 128 mb ATI x300 or 9700?)

The XTI Mobility X300 is better than the Express 200M. The X300 can score over double what the 200M scores in 3DMark05.

x300 is capable for CS Source and Half life 2 definately. Don't worry about 3dmark05, its practically worthless in the realworld of gaming.

I rarely go under 35 FPS, usually its in the 60's for default settings in CS SOURCE while running in 32 plus player servers on default maps like CS OFFICE, DE DUST, etc... I also play Silent Hunter III and even was able to play brothers in arms, all at more than acceptable frame rates.

no clue on what the 200 can do...

Consider a speedier hard drive than the 4200 if you get the dell, thats my only advice
