Hey everyone, ive searched the post and havent ran across the solution as of yet, so here it goes.

I have an Insiron 600m. If you do not have the power plug in it will not power at all. With the power plug in it will start to boot then screen will go black and nothing else will happen. When i try last known configuration it does the same thing. When i start in the safe mode it starts a dygnosis or something like that and just stops. I have no idea where to begin and i really want to prevent spending to much so any hellp will be appreciated.

look like you have a bad harddisk.. but before gonna out to buy a HD just try onething.. put a bootable cd in drive.. try to boot from cd... now if your HD is the culprit then you will have bad HD error there.

ive reinstalled windows before all this happened. it would start to boot then just go black. everything is up and running now im just not able to stay on battery power. My battery (which is what my initial problem was i think) is not charging. I disconnect the cable and it turns off. I take out the battery with the cable on and it stays on. It was charging but not it is not. The computer does recognize it. in the power meter screen it has a red x going through it with 0% power remaining. I hope i dont need a new motherboard, any ideas?
